Falmouth and the Lizard are found on the warm South Coast of Cornwall. The Lizard is a wild rugged landscape, with ancient fishing villages, stunning coastal views and a unique flora and fauna. We start the day at the peaceful Restronguet creek and the Thatched Pandora Inn, before entering the maritime town of Falmouth. We drive through the town and take the scenic road overlooking the shipyard, harbour and the famous Pendennis castle.
We'll stop for a photo opportunity before we take the tiny coastal road around the gorgeous Helford Estuary, stopping briefly at Durgan overlooking the water, then onto the Lizard peninsula.
Our first stop on the Lizard is the beautiful fishing village of Cadgewith, with its stunning thatched roof cottages, a colourful fleet of inshore fishing boats and steeped in fishing history, this is one of our favourite places in Cornwall!! We'll take a wander, and maybe visit the fishermans pub before we head south to Lizard Point.
We'll grab a famous 'Ann's Pasty' en route, then drive down to the most Southerly point in Great Britain. The view from Lizard point is stunning, with seals and the elusive Choughs to spot, as well as a near 360 degree sea view, its a great picnic spot!!
After lunch we work our way along the North coast, and to our next stop at Mullion Cove.
You can take a walk around the picturesque National trust harbour and maybe grab a local Cornish ice cream for pudding!!
Futher along the coast we pass Poldu, and stop for a quick visit to Marconi's field where he sent the first wireless message in 1901, then past the RNAS helicopter base, Culdrose, before driving down to the historic harbour of Porthleven.
If we have time at the end of the day we'll walk around the harbour before we head back to your hotel.
