This popular tour shows you the unspoilt Cornwall, and takes in the Beautiful River Fowey estuary, the mystical Bodmin Moor, and the ancient Port of Fowey.
We start this tour on the banks of the winding river Fowey. This tranquil hamlet of St Winnow is like stepping back in time, a beautiful church on the river, an ancient farm, a boatyard, a mecca for wading birds, and pure, unspoilt peace and quiet!
Just up the river is one of Cornwall's most beautiful inland villages, 'Lerryn'. This is a must for artists and photograghers,' a picture around every corner'. Sailing Boats, cottages, stepping stones over the river...... simply stunning. The inspiration for Kennith Grahams 'A Wind In The Willows' you can just imagine Ratty, Molely, Badger and Toad rowing down the river!! After a coffee by the water, we head out along some tiny roads and up onto Bodmin Moor.
Our first stop on the moor is the Famous church at St Neot. One of only a handful of churches to retain its medieval stained glass, every window tells a story....one of the finest churches in Cornwall.
Now we get to experience the true magic of this ancient landscape, driving over the cattle grids and up onto the moor, we see grazing wild ponies, the stunning yellow Gorse, rugged Tors and the relics of old civilisations. We'll park up at Minions and take a wander, taking in the Hurlers stone circles, the Engine houses from the Tin Mining era, and the Geological wonder known as the Cheesering! We finish off the walk in the village Pub for a bite to eat, then follow the Fowey river and cross over on the small Ferry to explore the ancient port of Fowey. The town has a long and fascinating maritime history going back over a thousand years, we'll drive around the town before you end your day with a leisurely walk around the town.
