Cornish Garden Tour 1

The famous mild Cornish climate was the reason that plant collectors brought their rare collections from all over the world down here over the last two centuries and that same mild climate is still with us and preserves those collections for all to see. Couple that with the incredible wealth that came with Cornwalls’ Tin and Copper mining and you had the recipe for some of Britain’s great estates and gardens.

It’s not all about the plants and flowers, the plant hunters also brought back huge numbers of specimen trees from all corners of the globe that have thrived and many Champion Trees can be found towering over the gardens.

You can be as adventurous as you want, you don’t have to attept the rope bridges and steep ravine gardens, we can adapt your tour to suit all abilities. Your guide will also be on hand to give you the rich and varied history of these great gardens, with stories of intrepid plants hunters, great Tin mining estates, lost and restored gardens and even D-Day connections. Don’t worry if you are not all green fingered, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Cornwalls’ Gardens are in full bloom from early spring, if you are looking for the best displays of Magnolias, Camelias, and Rhododendrons we recommed booking from Late March through to late May, but Cornwalls’ display of sub-tropical plants and summer borders continues through to late summer and beyond.

You can choose from a one day tour or a multiple days exploring the finest gardens in Cornwall. With a mix of old and new we can choose from over 50 gardens, and can put together a rich and varied collection for each holiday for you to enjoy. Visiting up to three gardens a day, you can make your Cornwall Garden holiday as many days as you would like!

The most popular gardens to visit include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah Gardens, Trelissick, Glendurgan, Caerhays, Tremheneere Sculpute Gardens, Trewidden, Trengwainton, and many more! There are also lots of fantastic, lesser known gardens to choose from, as well as the World renowned Eden Project, with its giant Tropical and Temperate Biomes.

If you want to mix gardens and general sighseeing, no problem! Get in touch and we’ll build you a Bespoke itinerary to suit.

Why not add in a day trip to see the Abbey Gardens on the Island of Tresco, a real sub-tropical paradise that we highly recommend. The quickest option is the Helicopter from Penzace Heliport which drops you right next to the Abbey Gardens. For a more modest budget you can take a Skybus plane or ferry to St Marys, then take an inter-Island ferry, but this does cut into your time on the island. Our guide will happily accompany you for the cost of an extra travel ticket on top of the usual day rate.
